NetGuard / Documentation

Getting started

Complete the four setup steps and verify your first credit sale.

Start in Shopify admin. By the end, an assigned B2B buyer can place a net-terms order and you can review its invoice and payment record.

Starting context

Before you start

  • Shopify B2B configured on Basic, Grow, Advanced or Plus. Core B2B is not a Plus-only prerequisite; see Technical setup for feature differences.
  • A company/location, an assigned company contact and a purchasable catalog product. Non-Plus B2B catalogs require new Shopify Markets.
  • Staff access to NetGuard and verified business payment instructions. Use fictional development-store records for the first test.

Complete the four setup steps

Open Shopify admin → Apps → NetGuard. Welcome is an introduction; the numbered setup contains these four steps.

  1. In Bring in your companies, import your Shopify B2B companies. Review imported, skipped and failed counts before continuing.

    Expected result

Companies and their locations are available. Failed imports and Free-plan capacity restrictions are visible rather than silently counted as complete.

  2. In Make sure buyers can choose it, review which locations can pay on terms. Follow the displayed terms action for locations that are not ready, then check again. On non-Plus, continue without the optional Plus-only checkout note.

    Expected result

The readiness check identifies locations with native Shopify terms. A NetGuard default alone does not prove that Shopify terms are configured; note placement does not block continuing setup.

  3. In Your credit rules, choose How long they get to pay and How much they can owe you at once. Review Approve small orders for me and its threshold if offered.

    Expected result

Saved defaults apply to companies without overrides; automatic approval still depends on your NetGuard entitlement.

  4. In Where your buyers pay you, enter verified bank/payment instructions and finish setup. Inspect the actual PDF before sending an invoice.

    Expected result

Invoices have your business payment instructions. This step does not connect a bank account or initiate transfers.

Keep in mind. There is no separate NetGuard password. Launch from the intended Shopify store. App Store installation depends on Shopify’s listing approval.

Prove the first order-to-payment workflow

Test the same buyer and company location throughout this first pass.

  1. Open Companies and check the test company’s limit, status, branch and native terms. Enable the validation rule using the Checkout validation guide.

    Expected result

The intended location can order within its available credit. The optional Plus-only credit note is separate from enforcement.

  2. Sign in to the storefront as the assigned B2B contact and place an under-limit net-terms order. Open NetGuard → Orders and review it.

    Expected result

The order reaches the approval queue with the correct company, location, amount and currency; approval follows your policy.

  3. Approve the eligible order, open its invoice and select Download PDF. Check its number, due date, currency, instructions and delivery state.

    Expected result

The invoice exists; PDF readiness and email delivery are separate states and may finish after approval.

  4. Record only a verified fictional test receipt, then reopen the company. In Shopify’s customer-account editor, select Orders → Main → Add block → My Invoices → Save. Sign in as the assigned buyer and open Orders.

    Expected result

Invoice balance and company credit reflect the receipt. After the block is added and saved, My Invoices shows invoices this buyer is authorized to access.

Check before retrying

If the result differs

Setup says buyers cannot order
Inspect native terms for the buying location, company-contact assignment and catalog access. Non-Plus catalog setup uses new Shopify Markets.
No order appears
Confirm a B2B net-terms order in this store, rather than retail checkout. Check Offer Pay by Invoice in Settings and refresh after processing.
